I don't know about you, but I am actually glad that summer is beginning to wind down. Sometimes, in the early morning hours, there is a crisp, almost-cool breeze outside that gently reminds me that Autumn is right around the corner.
Then, of course, a mere 4 hours later, the temperature is reaching 95 degrees and we all begin to melt again and flock to the swimming pool. (HEY! It's great now that school started we have had the pool to ourselves in the morning! Fun!).
Anyway, these days have been pretty low-key. Thankfully we don't have much going on, so I've been sorting and organizing and chasing little people. And feeding them.
Oh, and also brushing their teeth!
There are only four people in my family. Whose toothbrushes are these?
It's a toothbrush collection!
These days have included lots of dress-up...
And only a few traumatic events.
I don't usually take pictures of my kids in the throes of agony, but this one just made us laugh.
Abby was peeling oranges and she must have put her fingers in her eye.
Man! There is nothing worse than orange-juice-eye! I am pretty sure she milked the occasion. Her favorite thing to ask when she gets hurt is, "HOW LONG WILL THIS HURT?!" Then we have to make up a time-frame that she doesn't really understand anyway! Too funny.
Abby went to her preschool today to meet her teacher.
This girl is READY for some school days. It has been a while!
I asked Abby to turn around so I could see her back-pack, and Audrey Kate had to turn around, too. Ha!
I just love and adore these girls and their sister relationship.
They are so quick to give out tickles...(and punches).
They never withhold a hug... (or a shove.)
It is super sweet to watch them grow up together. They are super duper stinkers, too!
Yesterday Audrey Kate looked at me and said, "Mommy, you a siwwy wiwwy!" (a silly willy). I call her that all the time, and each time she says, "No I NOT. I Audwey Kate!!"
Audrey Kate came with us to meet Abby's teacher, and since Abby had a backpack,
she just HAD to have one, too!
My girls are getting big too quickly!
Abby had a great time meeting her teacher and the others in her class. I am just praying for a good year for her. Not too long ago she told me that she didn't like it here because she didn't have any friends.
She is so social and friendly that having friends is like her little love language. It fills her up.
We had a special year this past year with moving and not having the girls in any type of school. I am so glad that I kept them home--they are only little once! But it is definitely time for her to be off and in a school-like environment. (My house is great, but it is definitely not school-like.) (Unless Target and Starbucks count as classrooms.)
And also these days...
I have been sorting clothes and organizing and getting ready for Fall. I actually love this time every season when I get to put together a new wardrobe for the girls. Do you think that new clothes for your kids could be a love language, too?
I've gone through last year's clothes and all of Abby's old clothes from when she was AK's age. Sometimes I pull out an outfit Abby wore when she was two and it seems like she was JUST wearing that outfit!
With Abby's clothes from last year that she can still wear and my ebaying, I think I'm almost ready.
But my in-laws are coming this weekend, so I need to get this guest room straightened up before then.
Now, where to put it all??
Hope you have a great weekend!!
