After having had 2 babies, things just aren't what they used to be, you know?
I am not complaining at all. I am a healthy weight and over-all I think I'm doing pretty good.
But I still want to be at least trying to stay in shape.
Currently, I am working on running a 5k in September. For some of you that might be laughable, but running 3 miles for me will be a huge ordeal!
I chose the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge on September 11 because it was the first 5k I found that was in September. I chose September because I am hoping that it 1) won't be hot as [insert description here] and 2) will give me enough time to figure out how to run 3 consecutive miles without stopping.
Yes, you can make jokes about my version of the Michael Scott's DunderMifflin Scranton Rabies Awareness FunRun For The Cure. Prostate cancer is a pretty random thing to run for. But we DO have a friend who recently passed away from prostate cancer, so hopefully I can run in his honor. Then it won't be so strange.

I am not a good runner, though, mostly because I get so bored while I am exercising. I will run for what I think is forever and OH GOODNESS am I about to pass out from the extreme-ness of it all, and I look at the time and it says 1:30. I've only been at it for one minute and thirty seconds! The next 28 minutes are going to be HARD!
Each tenth of a mile ticks by like molasses and it is like a little bit of torture.
I think I need some good running music to keep my mind off the time. Or maybe some good podcasts to listen to. Something motivational. Any suggestions?
But the good thing is I am actually running longer than when I started, so there's a nice definition of progress for you. And I'm working out with weights and stuff which has produced a noticable, albeit tiny, muscle in my arm.
Anybody wanna run a 5K in September? I promise you'll be faster than me.

Hey Ellen! I just want you to know that this week has been awesome! Every time I have checked your blog... there is a new post! I love that fact!
About the running... good luck! I wanted to run a 5K, but somehow quit in the middle of training! I may just have to talk Andrew into start training again with me! And I agree with you - I really dislike exercising!

About the running - good luck! I used to run... hated it. I got a little better... liked it just a little more. Then I somehow just stopped running. :( Keep up the hard work!

I'd do, if I lived closer!! I am one of those that runs and I used to run a lot more before all these kids but now I only have time to run 30 min most days and lately with my oldest at my parents I've taken the double jogger out-talk about a work out!
I listen to music that I don't normally listen to on the radio like club music-Ke$ha-(hate how she spells her name but that's how it is), Black eyed peas-(think I spelled that right)-really anything in the top 20 that teenagers listen to, seems to get me going but then I also like Jack Jonson if it's upbeat enough. I just zone out and go into my dream world where I arrive at some party in the perfect outfit and I'm looking fantastic (you know, something that won't ever happen) and then before I know it I only have 5 min. left and it's over! Best of luck to you and make sure you have good running shoes and stretch! You don't want to get shin splints or plantar's fasciitis-I've had both and they're horrible-from not stretching.
Good luck, girl… I know you can do it :)
Yay for us Sporty Spice girls! I am actually loving this crazy P90X deal. I hurt all over but I feel fantastic! The second day ("jump training") was RIDICULOUS and I thought I was going to die, but from what I hear, that's the worst workout of the whole program, so I figure if I lived through it the first time I'll probably survive the rest. Today was yoga and I loved it. Turns out I'm not so great at the balance, but that just means I have room for improvement, right?
Anyway, I'm proud of you (of US) but there's no way am I going to run a 5K. I hate running with a blazing passion. If you need a good stretch call me, and I'll bring over Yoga X. We can fall over together. :)
Back when I used to run, before I discovered swimming and how it's several million times awesomer than running, I used to listen to books on CD that checked out from the library and burned onto my computer and then burned onto my ipod. Sounds roundabout, but those books on tape are like 14 hours long. One book could last you like two weeks running. The Harry Potter books are always interesting enough to keep me distracted from how much running blows.
